The Simon Mzenda Memorial twenty20 is a pre-season competition sponsored by The Simon Mzenda Foundation. The tournament is almost coming to an end now with Scorpions Cricket leading the summit and yet to taste defeat thanks to William Mudzingwa's quick 36 of 17 that helped Scorpions Cricket register their third consecutive win in the competiton.
Scorpions Cricket are on top of the log with twelve points after beating Mucheke Cricket, Hungwe Cricket and Masvingo Sports Club by 40 runs, 9 wickets and 8 wickets respectively.
The coach was full of praises for his top order batsmen " We have been playing good cricket and most guys are in tremendous form, If we can score 100 from 15 overs with 9 wickets in hand I'm sure we will be scoring 270+ in the one day competition" said Maponga in an interview after the match.
Masvingo Sports Club were missing their star man Zimbabwe Cricket and Midwest Rhinos spinner Tendai Chisoro who was the catalyst to the defeat of Scorpions in last season's Africa Day Cup.

The final fixture is against bottom placed side Lowveld Warthogs who are still to register a win in the tournament after their late defeat to Alester Maregwede's Mucheke Cricket Club. Man to watch will be their in form batsman Obey Mberi who scored a half century against Mucheke. Key bowler Sydney Murombo is likely to play in their last game after he missed the first round.
There has been development in the Scorpions Cricket camp with the return of former Southern Rocks wicketkeeper Pepukai Chisaka. The lefty scored 24 and a partnership of 44 with Gabriel Jaya in the first game which went on to score 41.
Scorpions will also be missing quite a number of regulars for their last game though some are still to confirm their unavailability. Douglas Murove and Chimbirimbiri will be out due to academic and family commitments respectively.
Squads will be announced Friday 6th of October with all the action not to be missed the following day at Masvingo Sport Club.
